Ferrari 812 Superfast: Geneva Auto Show

What Is It?

The Ferrari 812 Superfast is the latest high-performance exotic from Ferrari. While Ferrari has been increasingly known for its V8-powered and mid-engine exotic cars, the company still does a good business with V12 models, and the 812 Superfast is among the most exciting yet, replacing the brand's pricey F12 Berlinetta.
Under the hood, the 812 Superfast uses a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 that makes an almost unbelievable 789 horsepower and 530 lb-ft of torque -- delivered to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 812 Superfast is reportedly the end of the line for naturally aspirated models, as future Ferrari vehicles will likely use turbocharging and hybrid technology to decrease emissions and improve fuel economy; a rumor Ferrari hasn't yet confirmed.

On the outside, the 812 Superfast looks a lot like its predecessor, the F12. That's not a bad thing, since the F12 was a gorgeous car -- but drivers interested in a brand-new design may find themselves disappointed. Instead, the 812 Superfast seems like more of an evolution over the F12, and so does its cabin, which is revised with some new updates (like improved climate controls and additional center screens) but few major changes.

How Much?

Ferrari hasn't yet announced pricing -- but we expect a substantial increase over the F12, which starts around $325,000.

While the 488 GTB is one of the most amazing cars on the market today, the Ferrari 812 Superfast continues a tradition the brand has been carrying on for decades: a front-engine, V12-powered supercar. Though the 812 Superfast might not offer the same exotic looks as a 488 GTB, it's for drivers who already have a mid-engine Ferrari -- and probably about a dozen other cars. The 812 Superfast is larger, wider, longer and more comfortable than its 488 stablemate -- and it'll undoubtedly feel more like a touring car, though it will likely boast similar acceleration numbers.
